You may need to delete an SMTP server from your iPhone or iPad. This may be to tidy up redundant accounts or associated with a SSL Certificate TRUST issue. The delete feature is a little buried within the Apple device, but it's not too hard to remove an unwanted account.

NOTE: The below guide has been tested to work in iOS 13 - NOT iOS 14. 

  • Ensure you know your email address (username), outgoing mail server, incoming mail server and your password before you follow this procedure.  You will need them when you re-setup your mail account.
  • Launch the iPhone's Settings application by tapping its icon on the home screen.
  • Find and select the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" option or "Accounts & Passwords". (Depending on version of iOS installed on your device).
  • Under Accounts, select an entry for the email account you know is using the SMTP server. 
  • Under IMAP/POP section, you will see your account/email address.  Select this to move to the next screen. 
  • Under "Outgoing Mail Server" section, select the SMTP account being used by that email. 
  • Under "Primary Server", click on the email account.
  • This is where you should see options to edit the SMTP server or Delete as required.
